Martha's Movie Reviews: Captain America Civil War

SYNOPSIS:
Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, all Avengers must chose a side.

I will not ruin this movie for you...
so this part is SPOILER FREE.

This movie is GOOD... don't get me wrong. But is it the movie Marvel
needed to make? Couldn't we have skipped this and gone straight into
INFINITY WARS?!?!? What purpose does this movie have except to
add Black Panther and Spiderman to the mix (not spoiler they were
seen in the trailer so hush). My point about this movie is this...
if you start adding too many superheroes to the mix eventually
it gets watered down... (ex: Spiderman 3). The Avengers have
always been good about not watering down their movies...
HOWEVER, now with the addition of even MORE superheroes...
This isn't an AVENGERS movie it is marketed as a CAPTAIN AMERICA
movie... so the product becomes watered down.

Either way... it is a good addition to the Marvel line of Avenger movies
even if I think it was pointless and could have been skipped...

Martha's Rating:
4 out of 5

I don't wish to spoil this
movie for ANYONE...
so if you don't want
spoilers do NOT proceed after
this message. THANK YOU.

SPOILERS
AFTER
THIS
POINT
YOU
HAVE
BEEN
WARNED.

With what I said above... let's elaborate...

No one was killed. Not a SINGLE damn person that mattered.
More characters = watering down of product.
Marvel doesn't DARE kill off any damn Superhero.
It's kinda ridiculous.
However, with that said... there was no resolution at the end of
this movie except Cap. went his way and Stark his...
but if you need him Stark, Cap says he'll be there.
NO DAMN POINT TO THIS MOVIE.
It was just a way to bring Spiderman and Black Panther
into the AVENGERS before Infinity War without
being PRESSURED into doing their single movies.

With THAT SAID....

Black Panther was fucking awesome. They did more
with his character than I imagined and it was great to see.

BUT THE WINNER OF THE MOVIE WAS...
SPIDERMAN

Not even his damn movie and Spidey wins.
Tom Holland plays the new Spiderman.
Let me just say... BRAVO MARVEL finally the right age.
And all his little remarks as he fought Avengers...
RIGHT ON PAR. AWESOME.
I was really impressed with him and I look forward to
more Spiderman from this young man in the future.
HE KILLED IT.

Like I said... Captain America Civil War is a good movie but is it
the movie Marvel fans NEEDED at this moment.

No.

We didn't need a movie for MOVIE SAKE...
we needed a movie that mattered.
I am not sure Civil War IS/WAS that movie.
In a time where people's attention span is only
so so... we have to take into account that eventually
people ARE going to tire of the same ol' shit... and the
same ol' superheroes. Civil War could damage the Marvel
Universe if fans feel like it was an unnecessary movie...
it had no resolution at the end... and the fighting was for NOTHING.
EGO vs VANITY vs HE SAID THIS vs HE THINKS THAT...
just 2 men with 2 inflated egos putting numerous people in
danger in a struggle of who's right and wrong. Very
immature of them both in the long run.

So I can't give this movie 5 stars like Batman vs Superman.
It doesn't measure up.
I am scared for 2 or 3 Infinity War movies up against DC
Justice League movies... Marvel might have lost the war...
seeing as X-Men doesn't even remotely look like or feel like
what true X-Men fans wanted for a long long time.

Sorry Marvel.

However, it is a good movie... and is VERY entertaining.
If you can get over the fact that the fight is basically pointless,
Stark recruits Spiderman and puts a young boy in harms way to
satisfy his own inflated male ego, the OBVIOUS absence of Thor and Hulk from
the movie, and the fact that we learn Captain America has been lying to
Tony Stark for a long long time... then yea, this movie is decent.

If you're looking for rhyme and reason,
I think there isn't any to be had here.
